The Three Wise Men
Spanish kids who have behaved during the previous year will receive their gifts from Melchior, Gaspar and Balthasar on the nite of Jan 5th. Those kids who have not been good, will only get a piece of coal! Serves them right!! HA! And Those kids who have been good most of the time BUT not too well-behaved occasionally... will get *some* of the gifts they asked for (in the letter they wrote to the Three Wise Men) and most probably a piece of candy coal... as a warning that they gotta behave much better the following year! On Jan 5th at nite, the children have to go to bed real early, but before they do they always leave some grass, leaves or fruit and fresh water for the camels of the Three Wise Men, since they will no doubt be exhausted when they reach their place (not an easy task to visit every single household in the wold in just one night, you know, they gotta hurry!)
