15. EU/EEA Consumer Rights

If you are a consumer resident in the European Union, the European Economic Area, or the United Kingdom, the following provisions apply to you and, where they conflict with other sections of these Terms, these provisions shall prevail.

15.1 Your Data Protection Rights (GDPR / UK GDPR)

Under the General Data Protection Regulation and the UK Data Protection Act, you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, port, and object to the processing of your personal data, as well as the right to withdraw consent at any time. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your national supervisory authority.

To exercise these rights, or to contact our Data Protection Officer, submit a request through our contact form. Full details of how we collect, use, and protect your personal data are set out in our Privacy Policy.

15.2 14-Day Right of Withdrawal

Under the EU Consumer Rights Directive, you have the right to withdraw from a paid subscription within fourteen (14) days of the purchase date without giving any reason. To exercise this right, notify us in writing through our contact form before the fourteen-day period expires.

By purchasing a membership that provides immediate access to digital content, you expressly consent to the supply of that content before the withdrawal period ends and acknowledge that, once content has been accessed or downloaded, your right of withdrawal is lost in accordance with Article 16(m) of Directive 2011/83/EU.

15.3 Digital Content Conformity

In accordance with the Digital Content and Digital Services Directive (EU 2019/770), paid digital content supplied by CountryReports must conform to the description, be fit for the purposes for which digital content of the same type is normally used, and be supplied with the quality and functionality that a consumer may reasonably expect. If the content does not conform, you are entitled to have it brought into conformity, to a proportionate price reduction, or to terminate the contract, subject to the conditions set out in the Directive.

15.4 Auto-Renewal Transparency

Where your subscription renews automatically, we will notify you by email at least fourteen (14) days before each renewal, stating the renewal date, the price, and the method by which you may cancel. You may cancel the renewal at any time through your account settings or by contacting us, and no cancellation fee will apply. In jurisdictions where local law requires explicit opt-in for auto-renewal or provides additional cancellation rights, those requirements take precedence.

15.5 Governing Law and Jurisdiction for Consumers

Notwithstanding Section 13, if you are a consumer resident in the EU, EEA, or United Kingdom, you retain the benefit of any mandatory consumer protection rules of the member state in which you are habitually resident. You may bring proceedings in the courts of your home country, and the courts of your home country will apply the mandatory consumer law of that country.

15.6 Online Dispute Resolution

The European Commission operates an Online Dispute Resolution platform for consumers, available at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr. We are not currently obliged, and do not undertake, to participate in alternative dispute resolution procedures before a consumer arbitration body, but we will engage with any complaint in good faith.

15.7 Digital Services Act Contact Point

For the purposes of the Digital Services Act (Regulation EU 2022/2065), our single point of contact for authorities, users, and trusted flaggers is reachable through our contact form. Communications may be submitted in English.

15.8 Price Transparency and VAT

All prices displayed to consumers in the EU, EEA, and United Kingdom are inclusive of applicable value-added tax. Any additional delivery, processing, or currency-conversion charges will be shown clearly before you complete your purchase.
