Recipe
Ingredients
- 1 lb of either sirloin, chuck, or skirt steak cut thin (Honestly, it does not matter, get the cut of beef you can afford).
- If you want full enjoyment go for meat with good fat marbling
- 1/4 cup of canola oil (~45g)
- 2 Tbsp of Suya Bros suya powder (30g)
- Bamboo skewer (optional)
- Soak for at least 45 mins before using
Directions
- This recipe scales nicely
- 2 Tbsp of Suya Bros suya spice for one pound of meat
- It is essential to soak the bamboo skewer beforehand otherwise they will burn on the grill or in the oven
- Please ensure you are cooking in a well-ventilated area if using "Extra Spicy" or "You Dey Craze" the spice will choke you.
- RECIPE:
- Cut meat into 1-2 inch chunks and place in a bowl or zip-lock bag
- Whisk together suya spice and oil in a separate bowl until well incorporated.
- Pour mixture over beef and work it in
- Once the beef is fully coated you can either cook immediately or leave it to marinate for no more than one day.
- COOKING OPTIONS:
- Grill/ Griddle
- Light grill/ griddle
- Once the skillet is hot, cook beef till your desired doneness (about 10-15mins)
- Pull off the grill and rest the beef for at least 5 mins
- Stovetop (non-skewered)
- Using a well-seasoned cast iron pan or a nonstick fry pan is recommended
- Preheat the pan on medium-high heat for 5 mins or until you can't hold your hand over the pan for more than 5 secs.
- In small batches, add the beef to the pan.
- Cook until your desired doneness or a thermometer reads (150ºF)
- Serve with extra suya spice and sliced onion and tomatoes.
